Molasses Joe's Hibiscus Tea Why pay retail prices for tiny tea bags of crushed, dried vegetable matter? The first ingredient in most "fruity" herbal tea is hibiscus, so I just buy dried hibiscus flowers cheaply at the local health food coop. The tea is insanely easy to make: Put a lot of water into a pot. Add one hibiscus flower for every cup of water, and one three-inch cinnamon stick for every three cups of water. Bring it to a boil, turn off the heat, and let it steep for about ten minutes. Fish out the cinnamon around the five to ten minute mark. (Any longer, and it starts to overpower the hibiscus flavor.) Serve and add sugar to taste. Microwave single serving: Fill a mug with water, one hibiscus flower, and one inch (or less) of cinnamon stick. Heat on High until very hot (1.5 to 2.5 minutes, depending on your microwave). Let steep for at least ten minutes. Add sugar to taste.
