Party Log

Session 4

9 May 2004

We enter the dungeon. Upon hearing a bell, and sensing a crackling, before he can react, Dunbarton is trapped in a veil. Dunbarton appears normal to those behind him, but to N-Guuk, Dunbarton looks like he has studded leather armor all of a sudden. The veil recedes and all but Dunbarton recognize the difference in his armor, which is now seemingly changed. Dunbarton is well, nevermind.

A quacking is heard. A duck is seen.

A fish person appears at the edge of the water and says, "Hey, looked who dropped in." The fish person lives, um, who knows where. DeLyra realizes that the fish critter is from the elemental world of water.

The fish person invites us to play Mancala. DeLyra reveals her uncle was a duck for a year. Pheldran deadpans.

N-Guuk tries to intimidate the duck. For once, it works.

DeLyra beats the fish at mancala. Then beats Pheldran. Then beats N-Guuk. "Who's house? D's house!" Pheldran then managed to defeat the duck in a good game of Mancala.

The fish person reports that the duck doesn't let him leave. The duck also won't let him talk about the goblins.

The duck disappears. When Pheldran suggests that now the fish person can speak freely, he says that he would have to then help the duck. Instead, the fish person offers to tell a joke instead. DeLyra pulled the fish person's finger which released the 2nd worst fart we've ever seen. Yes, seen. All wetch except for N-Guuk who began to leave, when a little devil with a stinger appears and tries to hit N-Guuk. N-Guuk is now enraged.

The devil creature disappears again and reappears immediately next to N-Guuk, who gets hit with a poisonous stinger.

Folks get nauseated and begin to get their collective asses kicked slowly by the imp. N-Guuk must save versus poison and such. DeLyra begins to tell bad jokes whilst attacking. "What do they never have in your world that they have here? Fire!" DeLyra twice sends Magic Missiles.

Pheldran finally impales the imp with the his longsword. The imp bleeds on initiative 20. The fish person needs consoling.

The fish person gets to tell the story of the goblins now. Impy told him how Impy, as a vulture, gained their trust many years ago. Impy had led them to the elves land to pay respect for their god. The elves destroy them basically. Flaxenhair took off with the remaining goblin. Impy had been "promised" that he would get this place for doing so.

The party collected the Mancala game and the gold (worth approximately 100 gold). We offer to buy back the bow and gold is returned to folks. The remaining 30 gold is divvied up. In talking with Ariel, we return to the topic of Flaxenhair.

Brian (on Joel's character) asks if his race will change next so that he won't be half-assed anymore.

The dragon, as a half-elf, comes from behind to greet us. Flaxenhair probably had another person behind the scenes. He probably meddled too much with planar connections. We have been told that we have done well and should meet him back at Caer Cefn.

Tam thinks to post a sign to folks with the information about the crocodiles in Gator Swamp.

Corstref has gym memberships and the like. Dunbarton buys a library card. Who knew he could read? Pheldran offers to forg um, copy the ADMIT ONE IN library card.

We all go out to the tavern. There is a priest of the God of Death there that N-Guuk asks about Dunbarton.

We'll be at the Holiday Inn Express for the night 2 SP for night. There is a knock on Dunbarton's door. There are 4 dark cloaked and hooded goons from the Church of the God of Death. It's Dunbarton's former teacher, which he does not remember. To describe this event which is clearly not outsmarting them, I hereby coin the phrase "insmarting them."

Breakfast time. Pheldran gets "hoodwinked" by Dunbarton to whom he sold a "ADMIT ONE OUT" library card. 0.5 GP is exchanged.

The Priests of the Death God approach Dunbarton about some hauntings that have occur between here and Dinas Felin. There were multiple reports of people being impaled upon a spike or a people being beheaded. The visions did not include assailants. Note: Tre Glyn is a relatively new settlement (sometime in the past 20 years).

Dunbarton discovers the truth about library cards. Patronage rates are 500 GP for standard access, 1000 GP is for rare book access, and 1500 GP is for magical book access.

We arrive at Caer Cefn. Kawg walks in. The information we provided had been useful and he says that we will be rewarded for it. Dunbarton mentioned the library card scam. Kawg mentions that the library is a great place to go for research and that the guild is large enough to purchase a group rate.

Suggested that we go to Wickhelm's Rare Item and Household Furnishings Emporium in Dinas Mawr, across the sea a bit.

Tam takes out the Mancala set. Most of the stones are not worth much, but the aquamarine one is worth approximately 500 GP, 80 GP for the citrine, and 10 GP for the banded agate. We get 600 GP for it.

We get on the ferry, which costs 1 SP each for the ride.

At the ferry landing, we spend the night, uneventfully.

We decide to walk to Dinas Mawr and the road is very well maintained, with much civilization around it. En route, we look for Delyra to purchase a riding dog. It's a trained black Labrador which will be named Nightshade.

We spend the night at the inn.

At Wickhelm's, Kawg walks in, announces that he knows how the owner got the Black Amulet, will take the black amulet, and that each of us are to receive one item each or that the owner could choose the alternative.

Here's our booty:
Delyra Cure Moderate Wounds + 20 platinum
