Party Log

Session 1

We have been invited to Dinas Felin (in Ystrad Aeron region) by a mutual acquaintance who is a ranger, named Corla Ruckheim. She was promoted to Forester.

The area is under severe drought. City has a fire break around it. Neirinwy River is only a trickle, and thus nasty. BYOW party of her promotion is still going to happen.

Governor N. Skeboyee (Shit and onions). Wind from the west (weird).

DeLyra (Neil) is adventuring along with Pheldran (Jay), to see the world. N-Guuk (Dave) actually took a bath.

<introductions>
N-Guuk (Dave) is a dwarf, gruff, red hair, streaks of white in beard, normally a big axe. From near Tre Glyn.

Pheldran (Jay) is an elf, looks like fighter, medium long unkempt blonde hair.

Dunbarton (Joel) from the vicinity of the Temple of the Sun God. Has scale mail and a light cloak. Usually with big-ass sword nd pick-axe.

DeLyra (Neil) looks like young elven girl (6 years old). Acts like it too.

Tang Zhen (Joe) dresssed in a white ghi, looks slightly Chinese with long brided hair braided in two.

Lystrom Fernow (Joe?) (a cleric of Tinandel, the god of travel).

[Edit: This turned out to be Tam, Liz's character. *Magic hand wave* He was always called Tam.]

Sir Brannigan (has a manor just north of town)
</introductions>

Corla instructed Sir Branagan to expand the fire wall. A guard come running in. Fire. People rush out - Corla inviting us to join her to the watchtower to look south. She estimates a 12 hour arrival.

The reading of options.

<reading>
A directional reading. To the north, the Moon. The related element is Six of Swords. The attribute is Two of Swords Reversed. Duplicitous Help to be offered. The obstacles are Ten Of Pentacles Reversed and The Knight of Cups Reversed. These mean (maybe) that there will be a fatality with much trickery involved. What should be done is Seven of Swords Reversed - seek good advice and counsel. The result of success is the Strength card.

To the east, the Fool. The related element is the Ace of Swords. Possible king or nobleman. The attribute is Seven of Cups. Obstacles faced: Four of Cups and Wheel of Fortune Reversed. Possbile unwilling character help. The Eight of Wands is the need of hope and speed. If we succeed: the Eight of Pentacles - a work or comission. Confusion in reading that last card.

To the south, the Magician. Knowledge is fundamental. Element is Ten of Wands (much fire). Tricky card - could go either way. The attribute is Knight of Pentacles - utility. The obstacles are Nine of Swords Reversed - real fear - and Death (usually change, but probably here literal). To aid this endeavor: a Six of Wands (hope and faith). The result of success is the Three of Cups. (Joviality and merriment).

To the west, the Devil. The element is Three of Pentacles Reversed - mediocrity and pettiness here. The attribute is King of Pentacles Reversed - vice and corruption. Good luck getting help. The obstacles are Queen of Pentacled Reversed - mistrust - and Temperance Reversed - disharmony, a falling apart. To aid this endeavor is Seven of Pentacles - money. The success is Three of Wands Reversed - the sensation of adversity.

To the inside (that is, without eternal help). King of Swords. The element is Justice. The attribute is the Page of Swords. The obstacles to be faced are Queen of Swords. Mourning and separation and The Tower - destruction. What should be done is Knight of Wands - referring to departure. The result of success is Ten of Swords - pain, sadness, desolation.

<introduction>
Jasper (Brian) is a pretty general looking human with shortish light brown hair.
</introduction>

We argue for 2.6 seconds about what to do. Pretty much aiming at north or south.

Lystrom speculates that the deaths near the lake northward has a creature that kills people. We counterspeculate that south sounds best. Reminders that fire often takes victims from breathing smoke long before burning them.

We get closer. We can see black specks coming out higher than they went into the column of smoke. We pass a recently abandoned farm. DeLyra and Pheldran spot that the specks are quite higher than first thought. They must also be bigger than first thought (50'-60' feet big).

We can see the fire now.

Ooo... they be dragons. And we can now feel from the wind the heat of the fire.

DeLyra uses her mirror to attract the attention of a dragon. One comes over and all but Jasper fled in Frightful Presence (Dragon Fear). PC's fleed in random non-fire directions. DeLyra suddenly found the coruage to stop fleeing. Jasper asks how we could speak to the dragons. DeLyra tells him that Pheldran does, but he's running off.

The wind force of a controlled stall of the drgon almost knocks DeLyra over. DeLyra and Jasper try to ask the dragon for help. The dragon snorts. Pheldran understands in draconic: What act of foolhardiness is this? They seem to want to help save the city.

Pheldran de-panics and starts back towards the conversation. He understands, they are arguing jestfully, and then about the safety in eating these people (who may have worms). Pheldran replies to the one dragon that "he did not in fact order derlivery."

The dragons begin to speak common out of politeness. DeLyra heads up the negotiations. The offer is that we will offer services and potential riches from the town. The dragons agree to take us out of harm's way and have us hold onto their legs.

It's hot and smoky up there. Fortunately, no one suffers any non-lethal fire damage. Tang Zhen up chucks whilst up there 5000' in the air. Damn vertigo.

They land in the river bed and tell us to inform the city that the dragons are going to initiate back burn. The party splits up in the following fashion. DeLyra and Pheldran will head over to the Governor's mansion. N-guuk will head up the watch towers. Dunbarton and Jasper try to locate locals to help with the back burn problem prevention set ups. Lystrom goes around paying children to go a-calling sending the message to all inhabitants of the city. Tang Zhen goes a-calling too - free of charge. N-Guuk intimidates the watch tower guards. N-Guuk continues to organize the effect by the watch tower.

Tang Zhen then begins to use the Ray of Frost to help put out small fires.

Pheldran and DeLyra get to the Governor's mansion. DeLyra does most of the explaining, with Pheldran playing the straight man for the comedic conversation. The Governor, after gasping muchly, regains his wits and begins to organize more efforts within the town.

(Jump ahead as things work out.)

The fire burns itself out and there be dragons awaiting much booty. The Governor offers the dragons a large portion of the money from his own pocket, the city's vaults, and Sir Brannigan's pocket. Also a magickal sword from the Governor, and a pair of magickal bracers from Sir Brannigan (which he was shocked that the Governor knew about). The larger dragon requests an indefinite period of servitude from the party. This is not enslavement; it is more truly employment and can be called upon at various times. The party can also adventure when not specifically called upon. The dragon does not wish that their employees feel torn between two callings, however, the employees should not be questioning dragons' motives.
